The brief

A growing design consultancy needed a headquarters that could cut its cooling load and still feel generous and bright for the people inside.

The response

Every window sits in a deep concrete reveal. The reveals shade the glass from high sun, bounce soft light onto the ceilings, and give the façade its calm, regular rhythm.

Inside, a central stair connects all four floors and doubles as an informal meeting place, so departments meet in passing rather than by appointment.

Materials

Precast concrete panels, low-iron glass, and oak joinery. Cooling energy use is 38% lower than a comparable glass-box office.
