ABOUT THE PROJECT

The brief

A family of five wanted a home in the middle of the city that felt like it was somewhere else: quiet, shaded, and private, without turning its back on the street.

The response

We wrapped the house in a folded concrete screen. Each balcony turns slightly away from its neighbours, so every bedroom gets a view of the sky but none looks into another window.

Behind the screen, the plan is simple: a double-height living room on the ground floor, bedrooms above, and a stair that brings light down through the middle of the house.

Materials

Board-formed concrete, white-painted steel, and terrazzo floors cast on site. Nothing is clad; everything you see is the structure.

Long hallway with wooden floor and floating stairs.
